The General Gist
The general gist of The General Gist of Jibbles Journey is that there is a baby squirrel that, when trying to grab a berry from a tree, falls into a greenhouse where everything and everyone is out to get him. You must explore the area trying to find your way out and back home safely. There are creatures and monsters aiming to stop him however. In one section you must use a match to feel safe in the dark areas, if you go in without any lighting eventually the fear will overcome you and monsters will appear to take you.
This was the very first project where I felt I had accomplished something great. The game itself turned out really well and I implore those who haven't tried it to go and try it. Whilst I did encounter a few bugs and errors during development, I would say it all went pretty well. I do wish to continue making this game however I would need everyone who worked on it previously to agree. And at the moment with University it doesn't seem like something we have time to do.
Behind the scenes

The most technically advanced mechanic I made is easily the player controller. I wasn't sure about how jibbles' movements would feel or how to make it feel natural, so I decided to make every aspect of his movement fully optimisable in the viewport. In the end the whole script came to 1590 lines, my biggest script. Albeit there were a lot of other mechanics I didn't make that ended up in the same script such as the item pickup and throw. It took a lot of time but I am very proud of how it turned out and it allowed the designers to decide what felt best for a tiny squirrel as well as for the player. We also ended up with 60 scripts over the entire project, these were ranging from basic mechanics to lighting and light detection. I am really proud of our entire team and we wouldn't have what we have today if we lost even one of our teammates.
